If any of you have an idea how to use this apps, here are my setting, I didn't tweak much so is very simple. Now by undervolting I was able to lower temp I notice that in the I5 model the fan kicks in at 51C (very low, almost inaudible) and start getting noisier by 55C and up. NOTE this also give you better battery life but I have not test this to know exactly how much better. temp on cpu 42C after 100% stress test for 1 hour, 49C gpu temp after 100% stress test for 1 hour.

I was able to get my PRO 4 i5, No throlling (able to mainting at all time 2.9ghz under stress test), much cooler, only a little warm in the back doing stress test. If your system is stable after stress test, your setting profile will be enable and even after rebooting, app will run in background with undervolting setting enable. UNDERVOLTING WON'T DAMAGE YOUR CPU or components.

Now the software that I used to UNDERVOLT CPU / GPU is "intel extreme tuning utility" It will be the same for all surface pro, some of you might have a better PRO 4 than others which might be stable with less voltage and run coolers, others might be the other way around. Also note that cpu are a hit or miss, since I have been a desktop overclocker since I cant remember, I know of the cherry pick cpu in which one cpu would run much cooler with less voltage than other. Now this is to help most of you, I didn't prepare a guide just giving u an idea of my finding before posting the guide. Sp4 i5 is a different story, rarely the fan goes on, still silent when it does, only during gaming is when it get kind of loud. I had the SP3 I5 and it was so hot and Fan so loud that I had to sell it just a week after I bought it. After I updated to 1.6 again the undervolt option was enabled in Intel extreme tuning utility. I did this after I reverted back to 1.5 but I'm not sure It had to be done in that version. I started researching (even though fan noise doesn't bother me) but just to help out a few of the members here. I managed to get the undervolt option back when I did a 'reset to default' in the BIOS. Just FYI, I've seen online that there are PowerShell scripts that can be run to do this automatically, I do not intend to disable script signing so that is a nono.After a few thread people complaining about SP4 i5/i7 Fan noise.

XTU: Undervolting an Intel CPU on a Macbook Pro running on Windows. Is there any way to make this profile to stay permanently with XTU? I'm using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) to set up my processor at a comfy 1.8GHz and now it runs like a champ. I'm facing a problem with this utility where the undervolt profile does not apply at startup (due to obvious reasons with overclocking profiles). FWIW, MSI laptops (at least the two previous series) have the ability to undervolt in the BIOS, but by default its hidden. I'm using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) to set up my processor at a comfy 1.8GHz and now it runs like a champ! I'm ok manually changing the profiles if I really need the power consumption of the CPU. The Processor Power Limits PL1/PL2 are set too low in the XTU. I've recently figured out that a way to control the heat is to undervolt the CPU while still retaining a good performance for office stuff. I have an MSI B350M Mortar Arctic motherboard and Ryzen master says my EDC is 100 of 90A. I also use a DisplayLink dock at home, which has some CPU consumption and I assume that it could also have an impact on the overall heat and noise. I've already replaced the thermal paste and cleaned up internally for any dust and other debris (if any). Also I've made sure that the CPU is not botched up, as MacOS runs super cool (as it was intended). However fans end up spinning up way too fast more often than not as the CPU usually heats up to ~65C at idle. Right now the CPU itself as it heats up way too fast, and I have to use MacsFanControl to cool it down appropriately. Ice Lake CPUs are NOT even affected by this vulnerability (see Intel's list in the above link), so there is no reason at all that these devices should have it disabled anyway. I would like to figure out a way of cooling it down with a respectable noise level and I'm trying multiple approaches. At the very least, please re-enable CPU voltage control for Surface devices with Ice Lake CPUs, e.g.

I currently use a 2013 Macbook Pro that still runs like a champ, and I'm running Windows 10 on it mainly (I prefer Windows, but I'm also using macOS with Boot Camp, I am aware of the weird setup).
